Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our clients dynamic finance team in Atlanta. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the general accounting functions, including financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data and requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Own key areas of the month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Analyze variances and provide insights to Accounting Manager/Controller
- Apply US GAAP principles to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Assist with technical accounting areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), fixed assets, and stock compensation
- Support development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
- Support annual financial audits, acting as a key liaison with external auditors
- Prepare PBC (Prepared By Client) schedules and ensure accuracy of workpapers
- Maintain a strong internal control environment
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with Operations, FP&A, AP, AR, and Payroll teams to ensure accurate reporting
- Participate in ad-hoc projects including system upgrades, automation, and process optimization
- Drive improvements in close timelines and accounting workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field**** (required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- 1–4+ years Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience a plus
- Proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice-to-Have:
- CPA or CPA candidate.
- Experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred).
- Experience with financial reporting and SOX compliance.
