Founded in September 2016, McMurtry Automotive invents, engineers and develops electric vehicles to challenge conventions surrounding the automotive industry. McMurtry attempts to see beyond the trends of today and into a future where cars can be compatible with the planet and where the pleasure of driving is uncompromised.

Technology and UPS
The Spéirling features a unique fan-powered downforce system, generating over 2,000kg of downforce (more than double the car's weight). This technology enables exceptional cornering capabilities and a 0-60mph acceleration time of just 1.4 seconds.
McMurtry Automotive collaborates with battery specialists to develop high-performance battery systems. These partnerships focus on enhancing battery energy density and thermal management, contributing to Spéirling’s outstanding performance.

The Interview Process:
• 1st Stage: Virtual (TEAMs), 1 hour
• 2nd Stage: Face-to-face, 1 hour
(Additional stages may be required depending on the
role. Also, some interviews may include a technical
presentation or competency related task)

Nestled in Gloucestershire, bordering the Cotswolds,
McMurtry is 30 minutes North of Bristol and 45
minutes from Bath.
McMurtry Automotive is located in the heart of the
countryside but accessible to the market town
Wotton-Under-Edge in 5 minutes, also home of
McMurtry Automotives soon to be production site.
The village of Charfield is 5 minutes from the
Headquarters and has a train station, set to open in
spring 2027. The closest train station is Cam, 15
minutes away.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Job Specification
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our fast-paced, high-performance engineering team. You’ll play a pivotal role in developing mechanical components and systems for our limited-production electric hyper cars, working on everything from concept to production.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Design and develop high-performance mechanical systems using CAD (Siemens NX).
• Experience with designing hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Ability to carry out functional analysis by calculation & FEA.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, electronics, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Excellent knowledge of GD&T, drawing and assembly document creation.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in high-performance automotive, motorsport, or aerospace sectors.
• Strong understanding of lightweight structures and high-performance materials (e.g., composites, titanium).
• Support prototype builds and assists with on-track testing and validation.
