Role Overview
Joining the Credit Risk Data & Analytics team within Business Banking, the Senior Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in the Business Banking Transformation initiative. This role is focused on bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution, specifically supporting the ingestion of new data sources into the Enterprise Data Warehouse. You will join at the project's inception, leading the charge in requirements gathering and ensuring data integrity to address critical reporting gaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Management: Define, assess, and document comprehensive Business Requirements for new data sources and system enhancements, ensuring full alignment with technical development teams.
- Gap Analysis & Documentation: Analyse existing reporting capabilities to identify functional gaps; review and contribute to Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) and Enterprise Design Documents (EDDs).
- Data Integrity & Validation: Facilitate stakeholder discussions to validate data quality and completeness for ingestion, ensuring the Data Warehouse meets strategic reporting needs.
- UAT & Implementation: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, validating system functionality and supporting end-to-end implementation activities.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and technology teams (IT&S) to ensure project objectives are met within a collaborative environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Business or Data Analysis within Financial Services, specifically Credit Risk or related domains.
- Expert proficiency in SQL for writing complex queries and data analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills for managing large datasets (formulas, VLOOKUPs, data modelling).
- Proven track record in documenting BRDs, FSDs, Source-to-Target Mappings (STMs), and process mapping.
Nice-to-have Qualifications
- Previous experience within Scotiabank or familiarity with internal banking risk frameworks.
- Deep understanding of regulatory expectations and credit processes within the banking sector.
