Head of Software Engineering

Peace.com is building the next frontier of play, combining AI, software and hardware to create real-world experiences that children can step into, explore and make their own. The company is starting with a small, highly technical team, meaning the decisions made today will become the foundations of a product designed to eventually reach millions of children around the world.

We’re looking for an exceptional, deeply hands-on Head of AI / Engineering to lead the technical development of the platform alongside an engineering team that currently consists of two people. You’ll be writing code, developing AI-powered systems and making foundational architecture and product decisions rather than managing a large organisation. The team works with modern AI-native development tools including Claude Code and Cursor, and we’re looking for someone excited by how quickly those tools are changing what small engineering teams can build.

This is a San Francisco-based role for someone who wants to remain close to the technology and personally build the foundations of an ambitious new product. There is no significant people-management responsibility in the near term, so this is very much a builder’s role rather than a conventional engineering leadership position. Base compensation is expected to be around $300k, with flexibility above that level for an exceptional candidate.
