Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our client's dynamic Building Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of electrical systems for a variety of high-profile construction projects, from concept to completion. You will play a pivotal role in mentoring junior engineers, managing client relationships, and ensuring all designs meet industry standards, sustainability targets, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of electrical building services, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and security systems, for various commercial, residential, and institutional projects.
- Produce detailed design calculations, schematics, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux, Revit).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, mechanical engineers, and structural engineers, to deliver integrated and coordinated building designs.
- Manage project deliverables, attend design team meetings, and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical support and contributing to the overall development of the electrical engineering team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within the building services sector.
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Dialux/Relux.
- Strong knowledge of relevant British Standards (BS 7671) and building regulations.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards it.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with sustainable design principles (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
- Familiarity with high-voltage (HV) systems design.
- Project management experience and qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2).
