About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to join our growing eCommerce team. In this role, you will be a key technical leader, responsible for designing, building, and scaling the complex systems that power our online retail experience. You will take ownership of high-impact projects, from intricate Shopify integrations to the core backend services that handle payments, logistics, and personalization. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned engineer who enjoys working across the stack but finds their passion in creating robust, scalable backend architecture and data models.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of high-impact engineering projects across the full stack, with a primary focus on backend business logic, API development, and data modelling.
- Own and scale our complex Shopify integrations, moving beyond simple theme customizations to architecting sophisticated data workflows and API orchestrations that connect our core business systems.
- Architect and build performant, reliable, and scalable backend systems using TypeScript and AWS, powering everything from payment processing and returns management to customer personalization engines.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in product, design, and operations to rapidly deliver and iterate on new features, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with business goals.
- Champion developer productivity by embracing automation, refining CI/CD pipelines, and integrating AI-powered tooling into our development lifecycle.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive professional experience in backend development, with a proven track record of building and maintaining scalable, production-grade systems.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and Node.js for backend development.
- Strong proficiency with relational databases (RDBMS) like PostgreSQL or MySQL, including data modelling and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS (e.g., Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS).
- Demonstrable experience integrating with complex third-party APIs, particularly in an eCommerce context (e.g., payment gateways, fraud detection).
- Familiarity with at least one modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Vue, Angular).
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Advanced experience with the Shopify API ecosystem (Admin API, Storefront API, webhooks).
- Experience with other programming languages such as Python or Ruby, especially for data-oriented tasks.
- Knowledge of graph databases like Neo4j.
- A strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
