Vice President, Corporate Development – Data Centres

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting a Vice President, Corporate Development for a growing European data centre platform.

This is a senior, high-impact appointment for an experienced data centre professional who can combine strong commercial judgement with financial modelling, investment analysis and strategic decision-making.

Working closely with the executive leadership team, the successful candidate will play a central role in evaluating growth opportunities, supporting investment decisions and helping shape the company’s continued expansion across Europe.

This is not a generalist corporate development role. Direct experience within the data centre industry is essential.

The Role

The Vice President, Corporate Development will be responsible for identifying, assessing and supporting strategic growth opportunities across the business.

The role will include evaluating new markets, sites, customer opportunities, strategic partnerships, investments and potential transactions.

You will build and review detailed financial models, assess risk and return, prepare investment cases and provide clear recommendations to senior leadership.

You will work closely with finance, commercial, operations, development and construction teams to ensure that commercial and financial assumptions are grounded in operational reality.

The position offers significant exposure to executive leadership, investors and board-level decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support corporate development activity across the platform.
  • Identify and evaluate strategic growth opportunities.
  • Assess new markets, sites, customer opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Build, own and refine detailed financial models.
  • Prepare investment cases, scenario analysis and commercial recommendations.
  • Support business planning and long-term growth strategy.
  • Analyse capital requirements, investment returns and commercial risk.
  • Support potential M&A activity, including valuation, due diligence and transaction execution.
  • Work closely with finance, commercial, operations, development and construction teams.
  • Analyse data centre economics, including power, capacity, utilisation, pricing, capex, opex and customer contracts.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for executive leadership, investors and board-level discussions.
  • Provide insight into market trends, competitor activity and customer demand.
  • Support capital allocation and strategic prioritisation across the business.

Required Experience

Direct data centre industry experience is mandatory.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong experience within the data centre or colocation sector.
  • Experience in corporate development, investment, strategy, business planning or M&A.
  • Excellent financial modelling capability.
  • Strong investment analysis and commercial evaluation skills.
  • A detailed understanding of data centre economics.
  • Experience assessing power, capacity, capex, opex, utilisation, pricing and customer contracts.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership with strategic and commercial decision-making.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to challenge assumptions.
  • The ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Confidence working with executive leadership, investors and board-level stakeholders.
  • A practical, hands-on approach within a fast-moving business.

Preferred Experience

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • Previous M&A or transaction experience.
  • Experience within a pan-European data centre platform.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth infrastructure business.
  • Exposure to site acquisition, development or expansion planning.
  • Experience supporting new market entry or platform growth.
  • Experience preparing board and investor materials.
  • Background in infrastructure investment or corporate finance, supported by direct data centre sector experience.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a commercially focused corporate development professional with a proven track record within the data centre industry.

You will combine strong analytical and financial modelling skills with a practical understanding of how data centre platforms operate and grow.

You should be comfortable working across multiple functions and able to understand both the investment case and the operational reality behind a growth opportunity.

The successful candidate will understand how power, capacity, capital investment, customer demand, long-term contracts and operational delivery combine to create value within a data centre business.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing European platform and play a meaningful role in shaping its long-term strategy and expansion.
