Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. You will work to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. This is a key role within our project delivery team, requiring a high degree of commercial acumen and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, with the architect and/or the client.
- Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work, and perform risk, value management, and cost control.
- Manage and value variations, prepare and analyse costings for tenders, and advise on procurement strategy.
- Certify interim payments, manage subcontractor accounts, and settle final accounts in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes, ensuring the company's commercial interests are protected.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with significant experience at a senior level.
- In-depth knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC), procurement routes, and commercial management.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of working collaboratively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
- Experience with large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with industry-standard costing software (e.g., CostX, Causeway).
