Tax Manager (Hybrid – West GTA)
Our client is a well-established mid-sized accounting firm known for its collaborative culture and long-term client relationships. They support a wide range of privately owned businesses and high-net-worth individuals, offering tailored tax, accounting, and advisory solutions. This is a hybrid position (2 days per week in office) focused on Canadian tax planning and compliance. The Tax Manager will work closely with firm leadership on complex tax engagements, provide strategic planning advice, and mentor a team of tax professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review Canadian tax engagements for private companies, individuals, estates, and trusts.
- Deliver proactive tax planning strategies, including reorganizations, succession planning, and estate planning.
- Collaborate with Partners and cross-border specialists on integrated tax solutions.
- Conduct and communicate tax research findings to clients and internal teams.
- Support the development of junior staff through coaching and technical training.
- Maintain strong client relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and sound advice.
Qualifications
- CPA designation with 5+ years of public practice experience, including 1+ years in a management-level tax role.
- Completion or in-process of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program (Parts I–III).
- Proven expertise in domestic tax planning and compliance for privately held corporations and high-net-worth individuals.
- Strong knowledge of corporate reorganizations, estates, and trusts.
- Experience with Taxprep, Caseware, CCH, and Microsoft Office.
- U.S. tax knowledge is an asset but not required.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.
