Take the helm on vital civil engineering schemes, driving projects from initial design right through to final handover. Talent Link is seeking an experienced Project Manager based in the United Kingdom to oversee multiple ongoing works, delivering exceptional commercial performance, rigorous safety standards, and high-quality buildable solutions. Working collaboratively with our estimating, surveying, and site engineering teams, you will champion client expectations while ensuring efficient, cost-effective project execution every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Delivery: Manage multiple projects from the design phase through to final handover, overseeing construction programmes, work packages, resource planning, and comprehensive O&M documentation.
  • Commercial & Financial Control: Produce robust cost forecasts, maintain commercial tension to reduce expenditure, handle monthly commercial reporting, and prepare comprehensive estimates for variations and additional works.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership: Champion and enforce strict HS&E standards, leading safety briefings, ensuring compliance with CDM, HSG47, HAUC, and NRSWA regulations, and maintaining all required risk assessments.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the development and sign-off of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), maintain the QA file, resolve technical queries, and ensure accurate as-built records are provided to clients.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Chair weekly site progress meetings, nurture relationships with clients, design consultants, and framework suppliers, and assist the estimating team with new project tenders.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Civil Engineering Background: Possess a Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) alongside proven experience managing and delivering civil engineering projects with minimal guidance.
  • Contract & Commercial Acumen: In-depth working knowledge of NEC contracts—specifically Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms—as well as CDM regulations, design management, and cost control.
  • Essential Certifications: Current CSCS Manager’s card, SMSTS, and a NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Technical & Planning Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to work with Primavera P6 (or equivalent project planning software) and resolve complex engineering challenges to deliver practical, buildable solutions.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal and team management skills with a proven track record of motivating site personnel, directing subcontractors, and challenging designs constructively.

Nice-to-have

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE).
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
