Camber Morris

United Kingdom · Full-time · Permanent · Hybrid · £250,000 - £400,000/year

Bridge the gap between complex quantitative models and mission-critical trading decisions.

At Camber Morris, we are looking for an experienced Python Quant Developer for a top tier hedge fund to lead the evolution of our core analytics platform supporting our macro business. In this permanent, full-time hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, you will take ownership of high-performance Python APIs and service architectures that deliver real-time pricing, curve construction, and risk metrics directly into the hands of front-office users. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust Python APIs and service architectures that deliver complex analytics capabilities across macro trading products and derivatives.
  • Integrate Python-based platforms with lower-level C++ quant analytics libraries to expose high-performance valuation and risk models.
  • Build, optimise, and support business-critical spreadsheet interfaces and workflows, ensuring traders and researchers can interact seamlessly with analytics models via Excel.
  • Engineer resilient, distributed service contracts using gRPC and Protocol Buffers, maintaining strict API versioning and backward compatibility.
  • Optimise platform performance, resource utilisation, and latency through profiling, caching strategies, and asynchronous execution.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, discrepancies in pricing or risk metrics, and provide technical guidance across release cycles.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience engineering and supporting production Python platforms, APIs, or analytics systems within financial markets (macro trading, pricing, or risk environments).
  • Proven experience building service-oriented architectures with practical application of gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and backward-compatible interface design.
  • Demonstrated track record integrating Python services with underlying C++ quantitative analytics libraries and cross-language platforms.
  • Extensive experience supporting mission-critical Excel workflows and building reliable user-facing spreadsheet integrations for trading and risk desks.
  • Deep technical expertise in Python performance tuning, profiling, caching, asynchronous computing, and production troubleshooting.

Nice-to-have

  • Direct experience collaborating cross-functionally with quantitative researchers, macro traders, and risk analysts to translate mathematical models into scalable production code.
  • Prior experience offering mentorship and technical direction to other developers within a front-office analytics technology team.
