The Opportunity

We are working with a founder-led search firm that specialises in partnering exclusively with venture-backed and stealth-mode AI security startups. These companies are at the cutting edge, building the next generation of AI-native security infrastructure, often ahead of public hiring announcements. The firm was established by a recruiter who built their reputation working directly for a company that became one of the first major AI security acquisitions in the US, and they now partner with several top-tier VC firms in cybersecurity.

This role is open because the firm has experienced significant inbound demand from founders and VCs, exceeding current capacity. You would be joining as the first delivery hire, working directly alongside the founder rather than into a pre-existing team structure.

You do not need a background in cybersecurity to succeed. The founder briefs every project personally, and you will utilise AI tools to assist in validating technical fit. What matters most is your ability to source at volume, adapt quickly to new markets, and take genuine ownership of your own pipeline.

What You'll Do

• Source and message candidates for technical (engineering, product) and go-to-market (founding AE, early-career GTM) roles at AI security startups
• Run short qualifying conversations to gauge candidate interest and basic fit before handing strong candidates to the founder
• Build and refine search strategies using LinkedIn Recruiter, Juicebox, and AI tools (ChatGPT/Claude) to sanity-check role fit
• Maintain visibility of pipeline status directly in client ATS systems (e.g. Ashby) where access is provided
• Work independently against your own weekly output targets, with regular access to the founder for guidance

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Agency, RPO, or resourcing background (2–5 years)
• Comfortable with personalised outreach in a niche, unfamiliar market
• Confident running short qualifying calls
• Available to work flexibly, including coverage until ~8pm UK time

Advantageous

• Prior exposure to cybersecurity, AI, or broader tech recruitment
• Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, Juicebox, or similar sourcing/enrichment tools
• Comfortable working directly with a solo founder with a fast-moving, informal process

The details:

• Salary: R30,000 - R45,000 Base Salary
• Commission: 5–10% of placement fee (Average fees $25,000 - $45,000)
• Working hours: Flexible, core hours ~12pm - 8pm (Outcome oriented)
