Role Overview

The Operations Manager is a key leadership position responsible for creating and executing production schedules to achieve revenue, margin, and delivery targets. This role directs all production personnel, implements lean manufacturing principles, and drives a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and employee engagement. As a change agent, you will develop both short and long-term goals to maximize production efficiency and ensure customer commitments are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic programs to improve labor efficiency, on-time delivery, quality, and safety, ensuring manufacturing operations exceed customer expectations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the manufacturing team by communicating goals, monitoring performance, and fostering personal growth opportunities in a safe and secure work environment.
  • Manage financial objectives by establishing budgets, controlling costs, and maximizing asset utilization, while collaborating with the Plant Manager on annual operating plans and capital projects.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by championing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, identifying and resolving issues, and ensuring product quality meets all specifications.
  • Interface with key departments like Supply Chain to optimize purchasing, logistics, inventory, and production control systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing management role.
  • Proven experience implementing strategic programs that improve labor efficiency, on-time delivery, and quality.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and motivate a production team.
  • Excellent understanding of HR principles, financial acumen, and budget management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green Belt (GB) certification is highly desired.
  • Experience in the building materials or door manufacturing industry.
  • Advanced skills in MS Project or similar project management software.
