Projects Director | London | Scenic Design & Build

Salary: £70K-£80K (Flexible for the right candidates) + benefits
Location: London, on-site
Reporting to: Company Directors
Start: As soon as possible

The opportunity

We’re recruiting immediately, on behalf of our client, for a Projects Director to take ownership of project delivery at one of London’s most incredible Scenic Design & Build facilities. This is a rare, senior opportunity, and the client wants to move fast.

The business has an established reputation for delivering complex, high-profile work across theatre, live events, exhibitions, themed experiences, attractions and brand activations. Everything is made in-house, under one roof, by in-house craftspeople working in:

  • Carpentry and metalwork
  • Scenic art and sculpting
  • Fabrication
  • CNC machining and 3D printing

The role

You will own project delivery: jobs landing on time, on budget and at the margin they were quoted at. That is the heart of the role and how you’ll be measured.

You will:

  • Lead and develop a team of six project managers, supported by freelance resource when demand peaks
  • Oversee a varied portfolio, from smaller builds to multi-million-pound projects
  • Protect margin and quality across every live job
  • Work alongside the Technical, Production, Client Services and Internal Operations Directors as part of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Be the point of accountability for delivery to clients and directors alike
  • Keep the machine running smoothly as the business continues to grow

Who we want

  • A proven senior project manager or head of projects from scenic, fabrication, exhibition, live event or similar build-led environments
  • A confident leader who can coach a team of project managers and hold them to a high standard
  • Commercially sharp, with real experience of budgets, margins and risk
  • Calm and decisive under pressure when deadlines are tight and stakes are high
  • A strong communicator, comfortable with creatives, clients, makers and directors alike

Why this role

  • A genuine seat at the top table, not a title without influence
  • A creative, hands-on workshop environment where you can see ideas physically built
  • Varied, prestigious work with real scale and ambition
  • An established, respected business with a stable foundation and room to grow
