Accounting Manager
General Propeller Company, a marine propeller and boating solutions business based in Bradenton, Florida, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to take full ownership of its accounting function. This is an established business entering a stage of growth and integration, and looking for someone who wants to build and improve the accounting function as the company expands, not just maintain it.
What You'll Do
- Own the full accounting process, including AP, AR, payroll, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
- Take full ownership of the month end close process
- Develop and strengthen internal accounting controls that promote accuracy and accountability
- Review financial information and proactively bring discrepancies, trends, and recommendations to management
- Improve financial reporting and support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Manage accounting activities within Sage and improve manual processes using Excel
- Manage relationships with banking partners, vendors, and the company's external CPA firm
- Support the integration of accounting processes as additional businesses are acquired
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong hands on experience across general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, AP, AR, and payroll
- Demonstrated ownership of the month end close process
- Experience building or strengthening accounting controls and process improvements
- Advanced Excel skills; macro or automation experience an asset
- Sage experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting multiple entities, locations, or acquired businesses is an asset
- CPA designation preferred but not required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
