Accounting Manager

General Propeller Company, a marine propeller and boating solutions business based in Bradenton, Florida, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to take full ownership of its accounting function. This is an established business entering a stage of growth and integration, and looking for someone who wants to build and improve the accounting function as the company expands, not just maintain it.

What You'll Do

  • Own the full accounting process, including AP, AR, payroll, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
  • Take full ownership of the month end close process
  • Develop and strengthen internal accounting controls that promote accuracy and accountability
  • Review financial information and proactively bring discrepancies, trends, and recommendations to management
  • Improve financial reporting and support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Manage accounting activities within Sage and improve manual processes using Excel
  • Manage relationships with banking partners, vendors, and the company's external CPA firm
  • Support the integration of accounting processes as additional businesses are acquired

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong hands on experience across general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, AP, AR, and payroll
  • Demonstrated ownership of the month end close process
  • Experience building or strengthening accounting controls and process improvements
  • Advanced Excel skills; macro or automation experience an asset
  • Sage experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting multiple entities, locations, or acquired businesses is an asset
  • CPA designation preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
