Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Multi-Trade Operative to join our dynamic property maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of reactive repairs and planned maintenance tasks across our portfolio of residential properties. This role requires a versatile individual with a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reactive & Planned Maintenance: Diagnose and complete a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and decorating, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Customer Service: Liaise directly with tenants and residents in a professional and courteous manner, providing clear communication about the work being undertaken and ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and residents at all times. This includes conducting risk assessments and using appropriate PPE.
  • Work Management: Efficiently manage your daily workload, accurately record job details, materials used, and time spent via a mobile device, and ensure company vehicles and tools are maintained and well-stocked.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a multi-trade role, with core competency in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, plastering, or tiling.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant trade (e.g., Carpentry, Plumbing).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices in a construction/maintenance environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience working within the social housing sector.
  • Possession of additional trade qualifications or certifications (e.g., Part P electrical, Gas Safe).
  • Experience using a PDA or mobile device for job management.
