Role Overview
We are a leading manufacturing firm based in Heywood, seeking a driven and ambitious Part-Qualified Management Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is actively studying towards their CIMA or ACCA qualification and has a keen interest in the manufacturing sector. You will play a crucial role in supporting the finance function by providing timely and accurate management accounts, insightful analysis, and business partnering with operational teams to drive performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, commentary, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to ensure accuracy and alignment with business objectives.
- Analyse manufacturing costs, including materials, labour, and overheads, to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost reduction.
- Contribute to stock valuation, standard costing updates, and analysis of production variances.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support key business decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification (CIMA or ACCA).
- Demonstrable experience in an accounting role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles, including management and cost accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, SUMIFs).
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with a large ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Previous exposure to standard costing and variance analysis.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with non-finance stakeholders.
