Electrical Estimator

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per year Hours: 8am – 5pm Location: North London Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

My client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their expanding projects team in North London. You’ll be responsible for preparing accurate costings and tenders ranging from £50,000 up to £5 million, working closely with bid and contract managers to secure and deliver successful projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and compiling competitive bids and tenders.
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications, producing accurate take-offs.
  • Calculating costs for labour, materials, equipment, transport, and associated requirements.
  • Sourcing and assessing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Producing detailed cost breakdowns, programmes of works, and logistics plans.
  • Visiting sites to assess requirements and scope of works.
  • Identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
  • Supporting bid submissions with site-specific detail.
  • Preparing quotations for smaller design & build projects up to £1m.
  • Staying current with industry standards, costs, and regulations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong electrical knowledge (essential), with mechanical knowledge an advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in electrical estimating.
  • Excellent numeracy, financial analysis, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (preferably Ensign), MS Project, and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with clients.
  • High attention to detail, organisational ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.

Relevant qualifications in Construction Management, Structural Engineering, or Quantity Surveying are desirable, but proven experience will also be considered.
