Key Responsibilities

  • CMM Programming & Calibration: Program, calibrate, and operate coordinate measuring machines to inspect high-precision machined components, ensuring absolute accuracy and repeatability.
  • Engineering Interpretation: Thoroughly analyse engineering drawings, specifications, and complex Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Comprehensive Inspection: Perform both automated CMM routines and traditional manual inspections using high-precision measuring equipment to verify tight-tolerance parts.
  • Quality Documentation: Generate first-class First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, compile Certificates of Conformity, and maintain flawless component traceability records.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Partner closely with CNC production teams to resolve quality discrepancies, support root-cause analysis, and champion continuous improvement within the department.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expert CMM Programming: Proven, hands-on experience in CMM programming and calibration, which is a critical requirement for this role.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong capability using PC-DMIS software (experience with alternative CMM software will also be highly valued).
  • GD&T Expertise: A robust understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to interpret intricate engineering drawings.
  • Precision Background: Demonstrated experience inspecting tight-tolerance components within a high-precision subcontract machining environment.
  • Right to Work: Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position; candidates must possess the permanent right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable Extras

  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.
  • Experience utilising industry-standard software like Visual FAIR or Q-Pulse.
  • A proven track record of inspecting high-specification aerospace or motorsport components.
