I'm looking for an Interim Head of UX or Head of Product Design to join a leading digital agency on an initial 6-month contract.

I'm also open to speaking with strong Principal or Lead UX / Product Designers who have the right mix of hands-on experience, client leadership and team management.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves being hands-on with design but is equally comfortable leading teams, managing senior stakeholders and getting involved in new business.

The business is continuing its shift from traditional UX into a more product-led design approach, so we're looking for someone who can help drive that forward whilst delivering great work for clients.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading UX and product design across large-scale digital programmes, including public sector projects.
  • Remaining hands-on with design, shaping solutions and delivering high-quality digital experiences.
  • Running workshops, presenting to senior stakeholders and building strong client relationships.
  • Supporting pitches, proposals and new business opportunities.
  • Providing day-to-day leadership, mentoring and support to an established design team.

What I'm looking for:

  • Experience at Head of UX, Head of Product Design, Principal or Lead level.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on product design and digital experience work.
  • Agency or consultancy background, ideally with public sector or government experience.
  • Confident communicator who's comfortable presenting to clients and contributing to pitches.
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring designers.
  • Someone who understands the move from UX into product design and can bring that mindset to the team.
  • Available to start within the next 3 weeks.

The key requirement is someone who can operate at Head of level but still enjoys being hands-on. This isn't a purely strategic or people management role. You'll be heavily involved in delivering design work, whilst providing leadership and direction to the wider team.
