Senior Quantity Surveyor

Lead the commercial performance of civil engineering projects

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a civil engineering & infrastructure contractor based in London, this is a key commercial role providing leadership and support to project delivery teams across a portfolio of civil engineering and water infrastructure projects, driving cost efficiency, commercial analysis, and effective risk management.

Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Provide accurate and timely cost and value reporting at project and business unit level
• Draft and update monthly CVRs, cost plans, and commercial plans
• Deliver accurate cash flow reporting and manage cost control and project forecasting
• Compile upstream applications for payment through to final account settlement
• Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation, and post-contract management
• Manage main contract and subcontract agreements primarily IChemE and NEC forms
• Protect the business from commercial and contractual risk throughout the project lifecycle
• Share best practice and proactively advise site teams on cost management and efficiencies
• Support and guide junior commercial staff
• Liaise with clients, third parties, and supply chain on all commercial matters

Requirements for Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• HND, HNC, or Degree in Quantity Surveying
• Working towards RICS or equivalent professional body
• Experience in the water, utilities, or civil engineering and infrastructure sector
• NEC contract experience including cost reimbursable and target cost NEC3/NEC4
• Proven experience in commercial management and subcontractor procurement
• Familiarity with IChemE and NEC forms of contract and knowledge of Construction Law
• Demonstrable experience of monthly forecasting and cost analysis
• Excellent communication, numerical, and IT skills including Microsoft Office

Desirable:

• RICS qualified
• CSCS card
• Experience working within a self-delivery or direct delivery contractor
• Knowledge and experience in estimation
• Experience on water or infrastructure projects

Project margin and cash performance against forecast, the accuracy of CVRs and reporting, effective subcontract management, and the opportunities you realise while controlling commercial risk. You will be a trusted commercial advisor whose work directly shapes project outcomes.
