Alfa Demo Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer to help build and maintain backend systems that power our core products. Based in London on a permanent, full-time hybrid basis, you will work directly on the services, databases, and APIs that make our software dependable, scalable, and responsive to user needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain server-side services and robust REST APIs.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured code grounded in established design patterns and software fundamentals.
  • Model and implement reliable database structures to support backend functionality.
  • Collaborate with peers through regular code reviews, pull requests, and shared branching workflows.
  • Partner with engineering colleagues to design and deliver microservices architectures.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong software development fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and clean code practices.
  • Proven experience in backend engineering, including server-side development, database design, and RESTful API architecture.
  • Hands-on familiarity with microservices and distributed backend systems.
  • Practical knowledge of modern version control tools such as Git, GitHub, or GitLab, including active participation in peer code reviews.
  • Existing right to work in the United Kingdom, as visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with unit testing, integration testing, test-driven development (TDD), and systematic debugging.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and working with CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of cloud fundamentals and automated deployment environments.
