IT Operations Manager — Technology Scale-Up

£60,000–£70,000 + Performance Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Farringdon, Central London | 4 Days Office / Thursday WFH

The Company

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a growing, technology-led business that is transforming how organisations access and manage essential services.

Operating across the UK and US, the company combines the pace, innovation and entrepreneurial culture of a scale-up with the financial backing and resources of a major international group.

Technology is central to the business, and continued growth is creating opportunities to strengthen its internal systems, security, operational processes and IT service delivery.

The business offers an energetic, collaborative environment where individuals are encouraged to take ownership, improve how things work and make a visible contribution.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced IT Operations Manager to take responsibility for the leadership, performance and development of the company's internal IT function.

This is a broad and influential position, combining people management, IT strategy, operational oversight, project delivery and security governance.

You will lead an established team supporting colleagues across the UK and US, with responsibility for ensuring that technology services are reliable, secure, efficient and capable of supporting the organisation's continued development.

Importantly, this is not a traditional infrastructure management or hands-on technical support role.

You will have the autonomy to establish priorities, shape the IT roadmap, improve processes and work closely with senior stakeholders. Your team will handle day-to-day administration and support, allowing you to concentrate on leadership, service improvement and delivery.

You will remain technically credible and willing to step in when necessary, but your principal responsibility will be making the IT function work effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a small internal IT team supporting UK and US operations.
  • Own the IT strategy and roadmap, aligning technology priorities with business objectives.
  • Oversee IT service delivery, performance, SLAs, KPIs and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and manage IT projects, coordinating resources, timescales, risks and delivery.
  • Manage technology vendors, procurement, contracts, renewals and supplier performance.
  • Oversee IT security, access management, compliance controls and audit readiness.
  • Provide leadership and governance across a modern SaaS environment, including Google Workspace, Okta, Slack and Jira.
  • Manage IT budgets, reporting and relationships with senior business stakeholders.
  • Ensure IT operations can support the needs of an evolving international business.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who have managed IT operations within a technology company, SaaS business, scale-up or similarly modern, cloud-first organisation.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience directly managing and developing IT staff.
  • Strong Google Workspace knowledge and experience working with modern SaaS-based technology environments.
  • Experience overseeing IT support operations, service standards and performance.
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple IT projects.
  • Experience managing technology vendors and working with senior stakeholders.
  • A sound understanding of IT security, identity and access management, and compliance requirements.
  • A practical, commercially aware approach to technology leadership.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Experience with Okta, Slack and Jira would be particularly welcome.

Exposure to AI tools or initiatives, international IT operations and security frameworks such as SOC 2, Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 would also be advantageous.

Above all, we're looking for someone who can combine strong people leadership with an understanding of how technology should support a growing business.

What's on Offer?

  • £60,000–£70,000 basic salary
  • Performance-related bonus
  • 25 days' annual leave plus additional wellbeing days
  • Private medical healthcare and dental cover
  • Pension scheme
  • Free lunches in the office
  • Birthday leave
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Employee discounts and benefits

Location & Working Arrangements

The position is based in Farringdon, Central London, exceptionally well connected by the Elizabeth line, Thameslink and London Underground.

The working arrangement is four days per week in the office, with Thursdays available for home working.
