About the role
We are looking for an experienced AI Governance Director to lead the responsible development, deployment and oversight of artificial intelligence systems across the organization. This is a senior leadership role for someone who can translate complex regulatory and ethical requirements into practical governance frameworks that keep pace with a fast-moving AI landscape.
What you will do
- Design, implement and maintain enterprise-wide AI governance frameworks covering risk, ethics and compliance
- Monitor and interpret evolving AI regulation, including the EU AI Act and related data protection law, and translate requirements into internal policy
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with legal, data science, engineering, security and executive stakeholders to embed governance into the AI lifecycle
- Establish and chair AI review processes to assess fairness, transparency, explainability and bias in AI systems before and after deployment
- Own AI risk assessment, third-party AI vendor due diligence and incident response processes
- Report on AI governance posture and risk to senior leadership and the board
- Build and mentor a governance function as AI adoption scales across the business
What we are looking for
- Proven experience building or running AI governance, risk or compliance programs
- Strong working knowledge of AI regulation and standards such as the EU AI Act, GDPR, NIST AI RMF or ISO 42001
- Track record leading cross-functional and executive stakeholders through policy and change
- Sound judgment on AI ethics, fairness and responsible AI practice
Nice to have
- Experience running internal audit or risk functions involving AI or algorithmic systems
- Working technical understanding of machine learning systems and the model lifecycle sufficient to engage credibly with data science teams
