Based at our iconic headquarters in Liverpool, this permanent, full-time role offers a hybrid work setup, blending on-site collaboration with flexible remote working. As our CTO, you will bridge the gap between elite sporting performance and cutting-edge fan engagement, driving the digital infrastructure that supports everything from data-led recruitment on the pitch to immersive experiences for millions of supporters worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the Tech Vision: Architect and execute a comprehensive, long-term technology roadmap that aligns with Liverpool FC’s commercial, operational, and sporting ambitions.
• Modernise Global Infrastructure: Oversee the evolution of our enterprise architecture, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity frameworks to ensure maximum resilience, scalability, and data protection.
• Drive Fan-Centric Innovation: Lead the development of next-generation digital platforms, mobile applications, and venue technologies to enhance the matchday and global digital experience for our supporters.
• Empower High-Performance Teams: Inspire, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineers, developers, and IT specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
• Strategic Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with executive leadership, sporting directors, and external partners to integrate emerging technologies, such as advanced analytics and AI, into the club's daily operations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven Executive Leadership: Extensive experience operating at the CTO, CIO, or VP of Technology level within a high-growth, high-profile global brand or enterprise environment.
• Digital Transformation Expertise: A proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale cloud migrations, legacy system modernisation, and robust cybersecurity strategies.
• Product & Platform Delivery: Deep technical knowledge of scalable web/mobile architectures, data engineering, and deploying consumer-facing digital products.
• Outstanding Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, strategic business cases for non-technical stakeholders and board members.
• Inspirational People Management: A natural leader with a history of building, scaling, and motivating high-performing, cross-functional technical teams.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience working within the sports, entertainment, media, or live-events industries.
• A strong understanding of sports science technologies, athlete monitoring systems, or stadium crowd-management tech.
• Familiarity with advanced data science, machine learning models, and real-time data analytics.
