Civil Litigation Attorney

As we scale our mission to streamline hiring, expand candidate reach, and lower hiring costs, we are seeking a dedicated, full-time Civil Litigation Attorney to join our team on-site in Los Angeles on a permanent basis.

In this critical on-site role, you will take ownership of contentious matters, manage complex caseloads, and protect Alfa AI’s interests across California legal frameworks. Working directly from our Los Angeles office, you will deliver robust legal strategy, handle dispute resolution, and ensure seamless navigation of state court proceedings. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all phases of civil litigation, from initial case assessment and drafting pleadings to trial preparation and strategic settlement negotiations.
• Conduct extensive, in-depth legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to draft rigorous motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.
• Oversee the end-to-end discovery process, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, coordinating document production, and managing discovery disputes.
• Prepare, conduct, and defend key depositions to build compelling evidentiary foundations.
• Ensure strict adherence to the California Code of Civil Procedure, local court rules, and specific filing requirements within the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated track record managing civil lawsuits, pleadings, case workflows, and alternative dispute resolution.
• Expertise in California Civil Procedure, state court litigation, and navigating the procedural rules of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
• Advanced legal research and writing capabilities, with hands-on proficiency using platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Proven experience conducting full-scope discovery, encompassing written discovery, document production, and taking or defending depositions.
• Active license to practice law in the state of California and an ability to work full-time on-site in Los Angeles.

Nice-to-have

• Direct courtroom advocacy experience, including presenting oral arguments, attending status conferences, and handling motion hearings.
• Practical exposure to trial advocacy and live courtroom appearances.
