Construction Project Manager – Data Centres
Location: Spain
We are supporting a leading pan-European data centre operator in appointing a Construction Project Manager to oversee the delivery of critical infrastructure projects in Spain.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing digital infrastructure business and take responsibility for coordinating complex data centre construction projects from pre-construction through to commissioning, handover and operational readiness.
The Role
Reporting to the Regional Construction Manager, you will manage day-to-day construction activity, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.
You will act as the main on-site contact between internal project teams, general contractors, consultants, vendors, local authorities and other external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee on-site and off-site construction activities across assigned data centre projects
• Monitor project progress, programme, risks, costs and overall delivery performance
• Prepare accurate construction progress reports and provide clear updates to senior stakeholders
• Lead construction meetings, site coordination meetings and progress reviews
• Manage relationships with general contractors, consultants, subcontractors, vendors and Clerk of Works
• Ensure all works comply with approved designs, quality standards, safety requirements and Spanish regulations
• Work closely with design teams during the design and pre-construction phases
• Support the timely issue of design, technical and commercial deliverables
• Identify project risks and implement clear mitigation plans
• Track construction costs, change orders and contractual claims in coordination with internal stakeholders
• Coordinate commissioning activities and monitor readiness for handover
• Ensure all construction close-out documentation is completed accurately and on time
• Work closely with Operations, IT and Network teams to ensure operational requirements are fully integrated
• Collaborate with construction colleagues across EMEA to improve delivery standards and processes
What We Are Looking For
• At least four years of experience in construction or project management within data centres, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, petrochemical or another mission-critical environment
• Data centre construction experience is strongly preferred
• Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of Spanish construction regulations, safety requirements and industry best practice
• Experience managing contractors, consultants, vendors and multidisciplinary site teams
• Good knowledge of construction methods, building products, technical details and quality standards
• Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and operate effectively within a fast-moving project environment
• Experience with construction management and project planning software
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, Microsoft Project or Primavera
• Native-level Spanish and fluent English are essential
