Join Abtec Group as an Accounts Assistant
Are you an AAT qualified finance professional studying towards ACCA or CGMA and ready to broaden your experience? Abtec Group is looking for an Accounts Assistant to support the accurate and timely operation of our finance function. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own core transactional finance activities while supporting month-end reporting, cash flow forecasting, credit control, compliance and wider finance improvement initiatives.
This is a full-time, office-based role in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, working 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
What you will do
Daily finance operations
- Post bank payments and receipts for Abtec Group companies and complete daily bank posting
- Process purchase invoices, checking coding and authorisation, and raise sales invoices and credit notes
- Allocate customer receipts and supplier payments and maintain accurate ledgers
- Process employee expenses, company credit card transactions and ad hoc payments
- Monitor CreditSafe notifications and resolve supplier, customer and internal queries
Credit control and working capital
- Produce weekly aged debtor reports, chase overdue balances and issue customer statements
- Prepare a regular credit control summary and support working capital analysis
- Update the weekly cash flow forecast
Banking and reconciliations
- Prepare supplier payment runs and upload payments to the bank for approval
- Complete monthly bank and petty cash reconciliations and reconcile receipts to card statements
Month-end and reporting
- Assist with monthly management accounts and finance packs
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
- Post journals, support revenue, cost, margin and project reporting, and prepare sales pipeline information for monthly reviews
- Support process improvement, system development and automation
Compliance and year-end
- Assist with VAT returns, statutory audit schedules and P11D preparation
- Set up spreadsheets and filing structures for each new financial year
You will also provide ad hoc administrative support to the wider business until an office assistant is hired.
What you will bring
- AAT qualified and actively studying towards ACCA or CGMA
- At least two years of relevant finance or accounting experience
- Strong day-to-day experience with finance systems such as Sage Line 50 or Microsoft Dynamics CRM
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and lookup formulas
- Accuracy, strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- Confident communication with customers, suppliers and colleagues, plus strict confidentiality and integrity
