Are you passionate about uncovering the real human stories behind complex digital experiences? RMG, a dedicated technology recruiting agency, is looking for a thoughtful and collaborative User Researcher to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy team based in London. Operating in a hybrid setup (three days a week on-site in the office), you will partner with a talented group of strategists, designers, and engineers to transform how people interact with critical services.
In this role, you will champion user-centred thinking across a diverse portfolio of meaningful digital products. From refining intuitive customer journeys to redesigning essential public-facing services, your insights will directly influence project direction and product strategy. If you thrive in multidisciplinary environments and love turning rich user findings into actionable recommendations, this is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Research: Plan, recruit, conduct, and analyse generative and evaluative research studies using methods such as usability testing, in-depth interviews, surveys, and diary studies.
- Translate Insights: Synthesise complex qualitative and quantitative data into clear, compelling narratives, actionable user needs, and strategic recommendations.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with UX and service designers, developers, and product managers to ensure user needs are integrated alongside technical and commercial priorities.
- Facilitate Engagement: Lead collaborative workshops, research playbacks, and knowledge-sharing sessions for diverse project teams and senior stakeholders.
- Project Ownership: Take ownership of dedicated research workstreams on targeted projects while contributing to wider, strategic programmes and continuous team best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven track record conducting user research across the full product and service lifecycle within digital development environments.
- Practical expertise using iterative research methodologies and collaborative tools such as Dovetail, Miro, Lookback, or Optimal Workshop.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate research outputs effectively, engaging non-research stakeholders and translating insights into clear design decisions.
- Experience working effectively within agile, cross-functional delivery teams.
- Must hold existing right to work in the UK and be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
Nice-to-have
- Experience conducting research within public sector or Government Digital Service (GDS) environments.
- Familiarity with broader UX, interaction design, or service design practices and frameworks.

Joining this team means diving straight into work that matters. You will be part of an open, supportive culture that truly values research-led decision-making, giving you the platform to tackle complex service design challenges and see your findings actively shape digital experiences that genuinely serve their users.
