About the Firm

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking legal practice dedicated to providing exceptional client service and expert legal advice. Known for our empathetic yet professional approach, our firm prides itself on fostering a supportive internal culture where talent is nurtured, and career progression is actively encouraged. We specialise in delivering high-quality legal solutions across a range of sectors, with our Family Law department sitting at the heart of our commitment to helping individuals navigate life’s most significant transitions.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and talented Family Lawyer with 1–3 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior solicitor or legal executive to manage a diverse caseload of private family matters while working alongside seasoned practitioners who are leaders in their field.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing clear, compassionate, and strategic legal advice to clients during challenging times. You will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills, build your own professional network, and contribute to the continued success of a busy and respected department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Caseload Management: Independently manage a varied caseload of private family law matters, including divorce, financial provision, cohabitation disputes, and private law children matters.
  • Client Relationship Management: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring they receive timely updates and empathetic guidance throughout their legal journey.
  • Drafting & Documentation: Prepare high-quality legal documents, including petitions, financial statements (Form E), consent orders, and witness statements.
  • Negotiation & Representation: Represent clients in negotiations and mediation sessions. Attend court hearings and instruct counsel where appropriate to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • Business Development: Contribute to the firm’s growth by participating in networking events, writing articles for the firm’s blog, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling services.
  • Compliance: Maintain accurate time recording and ensure all files are managed in strict accordance with SRA regulations and internal quality standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: A qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with 1–3 years PQE in Family Law (candidates with slightly more or less experience who can demonstrate the required competencies will be considered).
  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 and the Children Act 1989, along with current case law and procedural rules.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in plain English to clients who may be under significant emotional stress.
  • Organisation: Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload effectively while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Professionalism: A commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct and a proactive approach to continuous professional development.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary and performance-based bonus scheme.
  • A supportive work environment with a focus on work-life balance.
  • Genuine opportunities for career progression and mentorship from senior partners.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including a pension scheme and health wellbeing initiatives.
  • The chance to work within a firm that values innovation, collaboration, and social responsibility.
