Do you think AI could tell if someone is lying in an interview?

It is a fascinating question that touches on both technology and human psychology. Interviews are moments where candidates are often nervous, and hiring managers are trying to figure out who is genuinely the best fit. The idea of AI being able to detect dishonesty brings up curiosity and concern at the same time.

AI could, in theory, analyze speech patterns, facial expressions, and even micro-behaviors to spot inconsistencies that might suggest dishonesty. This could help recruiters identify red flags more quickly and make better informed decisions. However, there are clear downsides. Nervousness or cultural differences can easily be mistaken for dishonesty, leading to unfair judgments. Relying too heavily on AI for something as complex as truth-telling risks oversimplifying human behavior and creating bias in the process.

At Alfa, we believe AI should support recruiters, not replace human judgment. While technology can provide helpful insights, the final decision should always involve people who can apply empathy, context, and fairness. Our mission is to use AI to make hiring smarter while ensuring that the human side of recruitment remains at the heart of every decision. With Alfa, AI becomes a tool for clarity, not a judge of character.
